Default gas door

I recently had my fender off and the gas door off, everything is back together, adjusting the gas door was a pain so it wouldnt rub opening and closing. Now when i close it, won t open by pulling the wire or the button, but when i put slight pressure on it and hit the button or the cord it will release. Wondering what i need to do as there is no adjustments, that i can see. Not sure i want to bend the tab on the door where the plunger pin contacts it to relieve some pressure maybe.
any thoughts would be appreciated,
TIA

Did you get this figured out? My first thought is that whatever adjustment you made to stop it from rubbing might have jammed up the release. Maybe just go back in and pull back on the adjustment just a bit.

Perhaps the PCM sensed $5.00/gallon Premium, and its the cars way of trying to save gas money!!! Sorry, couldn't resist. I believe there has to be some sort of small misalignment, and probably some sort of an adjustment. I cant access my shop manuals at the moment, but I'm guessing there is something about this in there. Since I've never experienced it myself, I have no hands on experience with this issue. Good luck.... ..

there really is not any adjustment.. only the screw holes, so maybe 1/32 of an inch. it has to be almost perfect or the back of the door will rub the fender when closing.

If u go in the trunk there is a back up cable behind the door to open the door for emergency.

There's no adjustment for the retractabe mechanism, like slotted screw holes? As I posted earlier, I've never had to address this issue. Doesn't the release mechanism also attach with screws/bolts?

OK Walley, im just thinking out of the box. I just went out and looked at the door. Grinder dont laugh at me i know where u live.. Looks like u can bend the latch or u can add tape or what ever u thing will work to pull the door in. I think we r pass the conventional tyres.

Or the last thing i can think of is, just have grinder lay on ur trunk he doesn't do anything except post dumb answers. God i crack my self up. wife is wondering my im laughing.

My wife does that too!!! Must be a woman thing!!! BTW, I'd be willing to lay in the trunk, but you may need the cherry picker, or the Fire Dept. to help me out!!

The last time i was n a truck was sneaking into drive inns. Back then the trunkes were so big that if u were out picking and it started to rain. U didnt have to call it a day. Get the whole family of 5 with tables chair and a t.v and finish ur meal. and by then the sun will be back out then it's time to go back in the water.

P.s We had a 1970 cadillac 4dr. We had so many guys and gals in it that the back of the car was dragging. Of course we got busted. We were all getting out like the clowns getting out of a bug. Security said that was the most he ever seen and let us all in for free. Miss those day.

So right after I posted the exact same problem, I see your post a few down from mine.. What was your procedure to actually get the door open? My solenoid pops.. but door wont open. The emergency pull, is not working as it feels loose and disconnected.. I am pretty sure the plunger is broken. I nned to get this thing open before I can even try to fix anything.

I can access the solenoid side easily from inside the trunk but cannot access the nut holding the latch until the door is open.

If you remove the wheel well liner you will have a better access to the assembly.

Actually no.. The assembly gets removed from the inside of the car.. Not the wheel well.. I can take a clear photo of it from the inside of my trunk area.
Once the nut is off the plunger housing that holds the gas door closed, the entire assembly slides out from the inside.
I just have no access to depress the damn plunger
