Default Stall in gear

I have a 99 C5 that I bought a few years ago that has had a lot of mods done to it, all of which I don't know. I know it has a roll cage in it because previous owner used to race it Autocross. First corvette I've ever owned. It has a Luinati CAM shaft, Flat racing pistons, Roller lifter/Rocker, been bored and stroked to a 383 Cu in. Amongst lots of other things I don't know. It has randomly started to die at a stop sign or stop light. It will idle in park as long as I let it. When I put it in gear, it'll go, but when it stops at a stop sign or light, idle drops and it dies unless I throw it in neutral. When I'm accelerating and driving, it seems to do just fine. I don't currently have any codes in the display. Just randomly started doing it. Anybody got any ideas as to a direction to go? Thanks guys

Are you running premium gas, just thinking since gas prices are so high one might put regular gas in, or in some cases premium not available?

Is the gas old, car been parked over a year?

Possible vacuum leak from hose somewhere.

Try pulling a spark plug just to see if it’s fouled or looks clean.

Maybe O2 sensor has gone bad, or has intermittent issues, you said no codes but something to consider.

This is one of those times having a fancy car scanner that can show all the readings live such as O2 sensors etc, I’ve wanted to buy one for my own cars but a budget version for people who work on their own cars that costs about $600.00 or so dollars VS the super expensive type a professional technician/mechanic would use.

Where do you live, maybe someone here is near you and can help you.

I would be paranoid a car mechanic may have trouble figuring it out since it’s not factory stock anymore, unless you have a shop that really knows the cars and engine modifications.

Maybe someone else will have good answers, the gas thing was the simplest thing I could think of.

Not a fix, just to see what happens, try somewhere safe away from other cars etc.

With car all warmed up, put in drive, if you hold brake and slightly step on accelerator pedal, to raise rpm, will engine stay running?

If it works, note the minimum rpm needed to keep engine running.

Also, check and clean throttle body if dirty with spray and paper towel or shop rag, also open up the throttle blade and clean behind it and the throttle assembly, should be able to without removing it.

I bought a kit at Walmart in automotive section that has throttle body cleaner in can, 2nd can with mass airflow cleaner, also carefully clean mass air flow sensor, no paper towel or rag, old tooth brush etc, use the mass airflow cleaner spray only, don’t touch the sensor.

Maybe cleaning the throttle body and mass airflow sensor can help, maybe try replacing spark plugs with same exact new plugs as next step, if the cleaning doesn’t fix anything.

My first guess would be vacuum leak or a roasted plug wire. I am guessing, if it's a cammed 383, that it has long tube headers. It doesn't take much to roast a plug wire.
