I have the ABS and Service Traction Control messages so I checked the codes and found C1255, I believe this is the EBCM does anyone know where I can get it repaired please?
Other than the code, do you have any driving symptoms? From what I understand, only the car’s ABS capabilities are impaired when this happens.
I have a ‘99 BTW. Just wondering….
This isn't a big deal. You'll lose abs and active handling (if you have it). Take your time, find a replacement from a reputable parts supply, and install when you get to it.
You can try resetting the code, and then exercising your ABS/TCS system. Take it out to a parking lot, and do some panic stops, and spin the rear tires with everything turned on. Keep resetting the code, and exercising the system. There is a chance you can rejuvenate it.
I have a 2000 C5 with only 22K miles on it. It doesn't get driven often. But I always spin the tires on the garage floor each time I start it up, and move it, to keep the system exercised. Occasionally I get the same code, but knock on wood, with a little exercise, it goes off and stays off.
I have a 98. The whole EBCM thing is less than ideal on our cars. I was just reading about grounding gremlins on these cars: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tion-long.html
Worth a shot to check the grounds and connector's before you drop $1k into a used EBCM.
May the force be with you!
Ah man, that sucks! You can try the suggestions above, but more than likely you'll be paying $1000K+ for used unit with no warranty. Sorry this happened to you.
Some codes on the 2000 models can be repaired, according to some posts I've read here thru the years. However, and this has also my experience reading the posts thru the years, the C1255 H C code is not one of them. As one post put it, the C1255 code is "the kiss of death" for the EBCM. Good luck finding a good used one. I believe there's a stickie that tells how to swap most all of the electronics over to the '01-up SWPS, EBCM, etc. Don't expect it to be cheap!! Best of luck to you........
