Default Anyone ever "restring" their window regulator?

So I appeared to fall victim to a common problem w/ the C5 and that's the plastic half circle guide for the window regulator cable breaking. I planned to 3D print one but upon disassembly I discovered I could utilize the existing piece and just screw it into place. That is done and should be a permanent fix BUT I cannot seem to get enough slack in the regulator cable to get it around all pulleys. I do know there are two springs that go into the motor that do allow for this (I think) but I still cannot seem to get enough slack. Anyone ever do this? Pics of what I had to fix included for those interested.

I think most people just buy a new assembly. Oem is like $150.

Yes I'm aware of that. I know it went together at one point so It has to be able to be reassembled. I'm going to pull the spool apart and see if that'll help.

Disassembling the spool and removing allowed me to get everything all routed. It was 5 (or 6) torx screws, remove spool/unwind wire and rewind. 2 screws are cheaper than a new unit that's for sure.
