Default 98 Electronic Suspension Control Module

I had my Electronic Suspension Control Module (ESCM) for my 98 convertible (F45 real time dampening package) damaged when I left it parked outside during some heavy rain. Water held up in the small space under the left concealed cover and sat there for two days!

The ESCM was sitting in water for two days and the board on it was fried. Now I get the wonderful “MAX SPEED 80 MPH” warning in the DTC and can’t kick it when I get on an interstate.

Can a working used ESCM be installed without any programming onto my car? Or are the ESCM’s programmed to each car so that they are not plug and play capable? Including an example image below.

I would like to keep the ride control selector. I know the replacement shocks are outrageously expense but would like to keep it as is unless someone has a better idea.

I doubt very seriously if the ESCM is 'married' to the BCM, PCM, or VIN. I don't know how you'd program the ESCM to the aforementioned modules, anyway. Id just order a good used one, and install it.......
