Looking for any suggestions on replacement of this bushing. Its seems like it going to be a bitch. No room to get in there to pop cable end onto the shift lever pin. I did find the UP1 kit that will help secure the bushing into the cable. Thanks for any and all recommendations.
The one inside the shifter or top side not sure but id like to see this as well. When i had my transmission out mine was in good condition on the transmission side so i just reused the stock one. Was looking into this for future help in replacing it.

Ok so yes i did see that on Motor Trend. Wasnt going thru all the trouble of making a specialty tool from a piece of stock unless i had to. Long story short i went with the new bushing from C&S Corvette. Removed the interlock cable, placed the gear shifter into first gear, placed the transmission in first gear by pulling the cable all the way forward. This allowed me to place it on the shifter with no problem with good room to play with.
Just had this problem popped by l04 convertible fro 3 down to 2 then 1 st to take the corner by my house and it got stuck in 1st. Took it apart verified shifter end of the cable Bought Dorman 14057 too big wouldn’t fit then bought dorman 14041 popped right in.to the cable end put the car in first then mated them up to align correctly opened up a pair of vice grips to almost the correct width applied a little torque till I heard the bushing accept the nipple. Put the car back together by far the longest part of this project was taking apart the center console and dash bezel 20 bucks in parts and a couple hours of labor to take it apart and out it back together.. Good helpful posts only advice is be careful and gentle with the cable and the parts so you don’t break them. Some of these plastic parts are 20 years old so be gentle.
