Default Ported Throttle Body

I understand there are two basic units, BBK 80mm and the GM throttle body. The GM unit is listed as 97-01 which poses a problem for me as the intakes are two sizes with the 01 being larger than previous intake openings. I am seriously considering making this move to inprove peformance. Which is the better unit and what are your thoughts? Would there be much advantage to another MAF Thanx Rad  :yesnod:

Another alternative would be the Katech throttle body. Xtreme sells them.

Another option is one from TPIS, it flows over 1000cfm

It will be avalible in a month or so.

"vetetech" sent me a fax on it, but my wife cleaned my desk and now I can't find it. It's not listed on the web site yet.

But the flier clames a 22hp insrease on on mostly stock engines. ($695 I think)
Also it requires a LS6 intake that they have to modify to reach those numbers. (exchange $495)
They will sell an adapter instead but you loose about half the hp gain.

I want to wait and see how this turns out.

Hope this gives you food for thought.

Thanx for the info. Do you have a link to contact TPIS to gain info re: the vetetech TB. I think my current intake is an LS6 as it has a larger intake port then 97-00 LS1 intakes.

Just installed a Shaner S2 and all I can say is that you can feel the difference(better throttle response). The S2 looks like a piece of jewelry when you see it. Only when you lay it side/side with the stock unit, can you appreciate the work Mark does. Give it a look, you can do a lot worse for the $169. you'll spend for the S2.
Joe
PS...not downing the other TBs available, just sharing my experience with the S2 unit.

I have/like the polished shaner unit. Throttle response is alot better. Add in your favorite air intake, and the results over stock are real nice.

Since you have an '01 you already have a larger MAF than a '97-'00. A lot of places don't bother to sell MAF's for '01-up because there isn't much if anything to be gained.

THANK'S C54FUN and BLU-BY-U !!

You guys just supplied me with the answer I waited for. As I am in supplier-evaluation for a ported T-B, I wrote two times (!!) to KATECH for inquiry - never have received any reply. No flames intended, but may be those guys are too noble to listen to prospective Customers (?). Who knows......sorry.

So, now I target to get one of those Shaners modified T-Bs to install (I have already the ZO6 Intake Manifold to my full satisfaction). Now, could one of you Shaner-Customers pls report about the return time ? I tend to send them my own Throttle-Body in to have it CNC-worked and polished.

Thanx for all your valued information !

Joe. :seeya
