Need the 'Orange' dimmer wire for Lighting hook-up
I installed Digital Gauges in an A-Pillar Pod. To do it 'right' they need to dim 50% when lights come on. After MUCH reading - mostly about Double Din Installs - I ended up pulling that function from the Cream Colored wire at the BIG A/C connector. It works 'But' it is dimmable with the dimmer ****. The gauge Manufacturer is very specific about NOT hooking it to a dimmable wire or the lights will flicker - I assume because they are digital. Analog gauges might not have the issue.
Well... they flicker - but only if I turn it way down.
So... My choices are-
-Leave it alone and don't turn it to the flicker point
-Hook it up so that function is not used - Same brightness night or day
-Find another source for the REAL Orange Wire that will not be connected to that Dimmer **** (if that exists in a 03 C5)
I know there are a few Legit Electrical Guru's here and they would make short work of this - Anyone Home??
I read something from one of them that the Parking Lights can be a source and there is a Tap Point at the Fog Light Switch (Brown Wire?). I have a Z06. Don't have Fogs yet but DO have the dual switch in place - That's all. No Harness, No actual lights - I have em, just not installed yet. I'm gonna go probe around there now and see if it helps. If not, I'll need another wire.
Thanks for any help
