Default Batwing pan replacement......

Does anyone know if you can simply bolt a wet sump LS3 pan onto an LS1 without changing the "batwing" oil pump pickup tube? If this is the case, do you lose some oil control in high g-force corners, or? Thank you........

Yeah, I know it's a good one. It is easier to change the oil pan gasket on a non Batwing, and I'm zeroing in on a persistent oil leak on the right (Passenger) side. I've narrowed it down to either the upper pan gasket, or the front cover (not the seal, but the corner where you have to dab silicone, or similar sealant. The front of the front cover, and the drivers side front corner, are dry. I just changed the lower pan gasket (I've got a 2000 w/2 pc. pan), and thats not it. Thanks for chiming, Speedy. You've got a 2000 also, right? You must have the 2pc Batwing, too? Anyway, it's probably the front corner, because when I had the cover off a couple years back, I thought I had some silicone, and didnt. It was like 10:00 at night, so I wiped off the cover and block surfaces as best I could, wiped oil off the old silicone on the corners, installed a new front seal, centered the cover, and threw it together. Seal and drivers side are good, but I may not have had good luck on the right side. I know better. That's probably where it's leaking. Very slow leak. Engine only uses/leaks maybe a half quart between 4,000 mile change intervals. But it's enough to make the underside and the back of the car get pretty dirty. I swear, that big butt at the back attracts EVERYTHING!!!

Pickup tube and windage tray are the same. I have the LS3 pan on mine.
Header clearance vastly improved.
Oil control is not as good, but then I don’t road race.
I gave my batwing pan to Mr. Black

Once you change that upper seal your golden for another 20 years. Sure it’s a pain to get at nights as well do the lower seal as well..

Shops quoted I think around 1300 bucks just mostly on labor to change out my upper gasket things I should have done the 1st 3 times I had the trans out doing the clutch …it’s a 2000 as well same pan .
