Just kidding....
Bought new brake pads & rotors (drilled/sloted) last season. Brakes squeek at a certain pressure and driving me nuts. What do you all run/recommend?
^^ I usually do that when I install them. Sometimes you'll get a little packet with pads in the box.
Otherwise check out the metal retaining clips, sometimes those can be a little bent out of shape causing rubbing/squealing.
I got my c5z with the original factory brakes, 93k on them and noisy as hell. I'm not quite sure how they lasted so long, must have been owned by old people previously lol
Anyways I just bought the powerstop z23 kit and installed them with plenty of brake lube in all the spots + slide pins, definitely the most quiet brakes I've ever had on any vehicle even with the drilled and slotted- they give off very minimal dust too. What did you put on last season?
Track pads will be noisy, street pads should be fairly quiet. As stated above, lube the slide pins if you use stock calipers, and put brake-quiet or anti-squeal on the back of the backing plate. Squeal is due to fairly high frequency vibration, with metal-on-metal vibration causing a squeal. Brake quiet is tacky stuff that basically sits there as a layer in between metal and metal, and absorbs the small vibration.
