Default TPMS won’t clear

I have recently gotten a 2001 corvette, and when I received it read “Service Tire Monitoring System.” I’ve nearly had it for a month now and it’s all that is displayed. I’ve tried pulling codes but none of the side buttons work while the error message is on. A neighbor helped me out with an OBD2 and was able to clear the error code for a few days, but it eventually came back. The buttons worked after the message was cleared. I tried looking through the forums and with other people having the TPMS problem but I am unable to reset the error to clear the screen. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks

likely a dead or missing sensor, but it's weird that pushing RESET on the panel won't clear the dash.
i installed my second set of tires with regular stems, and i had to clear that message every time i started the engine. afterwards, everything worked like normal.

does it beep when you press RESET (acknowledging the button press)?

When the error pops up, push the RESET button. You can then scroll through the menus and see which tire is not reading. If one sensor is dead, chances are the others arent far behind.

One other thing to try - disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for an hour or so. Sometimes that will reset the electronics and enable things to perform correctly. As others have said, pressing the reset button should clear things, but if that is not working try the battery trick.

if pressing reset doesnt clear the message it's possible your reset button is malfunctioning. Otherwise, it should go away. It does come on every drive cycle (every time you start up the car after shutoff) and the only way to permanently clear the message is to fix/replace/reprogram the malfunctioning sensors.

Called one of the sensors are not talking, low battery possible. REAL scan tool will tell you if it's a sensor or the receiver.

my guess it been HOW many years if they are OEM sensors???

While "pressing the button" might work, some of the buttons, when doing a reset, have to be held in the "pressed in" position, for 3-4 seconds......

If pressing reset will eliminate the DIC warning, maybe I've been doing more than I need to. But the only way I've found to "reset" the TPMS is to reprogram the 4 sensors........

I did, and a new set of TPMS sensors, one in each wheel, cured the problem and also restored my tire pressure readings in the DIC. It's easy enough to test provided you have a new or working old set of TPMS sensors. Try programming them into the system before ever installing them into the rims. If they work, you'll show low or flat tire on each of the wheels, but they'll work correctly upon installation into the rims. Just be sure they're installed into the correct rim they are programmed for, else you'll have to reprogram them again after installation!

How, EXACTLY, did you manage to do that?? The valve stems and sensors are integral units.

Looked like regular parts to me . I didn’t change them the guy changing my tires did and I hella forgot the part number by now. I would imagine it’s a ordinary valve stem for the model

TPMS sensors have integrated valve stems (ours are metal, too).

and the TPM message should go away with a single quick RESET press (not required to hold like for other values)... if not, the RESET button is likely malfunctioning or not being acknowledged by the module.

yeah, the valve core itself should be standard & replaceable by itself; the stem, however, ain't.

So your entire DIC doesn't work? That is where you would pull codes. Sounds like you have a problem with your entire display.
