Any comments about HP improvement or subjective performance improvements? I've heard some comments stating that the Blackwing only helps older C5s (97-99). I'de be very interested in experience from owners of 2003 6 speed coupes.
N02, how did you measure that? 40RWHP seems awful high for the mods you made. I did a BW and Corsa's and I'm guessing maybe 20RWHP combined but I didn't do before and after dyno tests. If you did "more power to you" no pun intended....
good mod for $200. I got a good SOTP improvement with the blackwing on my 2002. It's my understanding (don't know for sure) that older C5s had an even more restrictive intake, so it probably helped them even more, but it's worth it on newer ones.
Anyone have a clue if the BW Box will fit my 00LS1???
I've seen it installed on the Vette and am not sure there's any room down in front. The cover for the air filter leaves almost no room in front or underneath. Maybe I am missing something.
The K&NFilter, Stingers and X-pipes may be my only options. That should help with some added RWHP though...
I've got a '02 MN6 coupe with a blackwing. Don't have dyno number's but it feels better, plus no more air filter replacement. It will pay for itself eventually. E-mail me and maybe I can give you a drive.
I just finished installing a Blackwing w/ a carbon fibre airduct . I may have a minor problem with my hood clearance (I just posted my problem on the forum a couple of minutes ago).
HOWEVER...
As I stated in my posting I could definitely feel the difference with the easy breather. I don't think it was all in my head :conehead
No, I could feel more poop, although I'm not able to pinpoint an H.P. value.
I think it was worth the time & money, but I'm easy. Good Luck!
Thanks for all the great feedback !! Sounds like it is worth giving it a try. I did look at a posting of the picture of the hole in the stock airbox, what were the
GM engineers thinking ? I wonder if they had any rationale for that tiny hole, were they afraid of getting dirt/water on the filter, or did they just not think about this ? Obviously, they did it differently for the Z06. You'de think that a group of engineers hell bent of getting maximum HP from a fixed displacement, willing to do major innovative redesigns of the oil pan, head intakes, etc, would not have come up with a one inch breather holes. Can someone explain why this stock box was chosen ??
Thanks, and I'll post my results after I get the blackwing installed.
I put one on my AE first thing. My understanding of the stock air cleaner being like it is, is that the air intake noise level is an issue with the design engineers. Less air intake means less air flow noise for maybe government noise levels. Second addition to your car can be a less restrictive exhaust system.
