Default How much Dexcool do you add?

For those of you who have changed your Dexcool. How many gallons did you add? I understand the system holds 3.15 gal and not all of the Dexcool will drain out. :flag

Just add a 50:50 mix of dexcool and water till the level stabilizes at the full mark.

Is there only one variety of Dexcool, or is there a specific one that we should use?

I used 50/50 mix with distilled water.

I drained out about 11.5 quarts (MN6).

Looked very clean, so I did not flush.

If you flush you should add 1/2 of capacity with 100% dexicool, then add distilled water. Watch out, 100% dexicool can cause engine to overheat, get water in as soon as possible.

@ all

GM DEX - COOL
The GM Part-# is 123 783 77
1 Unit contains about 4 Litres / ca 4.3 quarts
Colour orangeish

I personally apply a mixture-ratio of 40% DEX-COOL plus 60% distilled Water plus 1 Bottle RED LINE WaterWetter. Exchange of the "soup" every two years assisted by total flush of the system - cheap insurance....who ever knows what could happen.

The above mentioned cocktail protects to about (confirmed by measures) -25°C (ca -12°F ?)

Steering valve for the cooling system is due to a HT 160°F Thermostat, all programmed to Fan-kickin-earlier by HPP-III.

No temp issues. Even not under boiling summer heat, which could rise up to some 110°F here around as well - however not purely recommended for some enthusiastically and spirited power-runs through the mountains twisties.

Joe.
