Default Replacement Front Emblem

Anyone try the el' cheapo flea-bay front emblems? How'd it look / hold up to the sun?

Half of my original emblem ejected itself during the last track day.

Thanks

Rob

I'm in the market for one of these as well. The black paint on this one has started to 'peel' off from being under a cover in the heat down in NC.

I just ordered a couple of reproductions, I have a hard time paying $200 for a piece of painted rubber. I’ll let you know how they look when they arrive, they’re being shipped now.

The original is a black plastic frame with two 'raised foam' (not sure the correct term) decals. I looked at reproduction and could not tell if I was going to have to remove the original frame or not. Luckily I found the decal that fell off. Still have not put it back yet because I'm not sure of the right adhesive. Rubber cement?

The OEM's are way overpriced for plastic that does not hold up to UV. The black frames on mine were wrinkled, and thats on a car that lives in the garage except for about 12 track days / year.

Thanks Yellow, let us know how they look!

Quick question...under the factory emblems, is the nose molded for the emblem or is it smooth?

Thx-

I'm interested in this as well. My front emblem is missing one of the "legs", probably broke off from a car wash. Just have no idea if it broke during or before my ownership.

Pretty sure it's smooth with alignment holes.

it is not moulded under the emblems. The front emblem has two locator pins, the rear is smooth.

I bought a pair of 50th Anniversary emblems for the nose and the trunk on FB Marketplace. After a year, they've held up well. My car is garage kept, but I drive it a lot, so I'm satisfied.

They're cheap enough that I'll give it a try.

Thanks

I put one of the E bay specials on my car about 6 months ago. So far so good.

no, but I'd love to see some. I tried one of those from Amazon and it isn't sticking. Peeled up in a day.

Might it be worth heating up to shape with a heat gun before sticking it on?

Just chiming in to answer the OP's question. A couple months ago I bought a $20 repop from Derby City Corvettes (ebay store) and I'm very happy with it. It is easy to identify very small differences from the OE front emblem, but it looks good enough for a non show car.

Here are the anniversary reproduction emblems I got on EBay. My initial thought is that the finish is excellent and indistinguishable from the OEM. I’ll see how they look installed after a few months
