Looking at Rearends
I'm having some drivetrain work done in the near furture (I hope) transmission and clutch. While it's all apart, now is the time to consider a possible rearend change. O.K. here we go...the car is a 1998 6-speed, coupe with 70,000 mile on it. Usual bolt ons, Corsa exhaust, Air Filter, MAF Ends. I am considering 4.11's. Right now at 1500 RPM in 6th. gear I'm going 66 MPH. At 2000 RPM I'm gong 90 MPH. With the 4.11's what would be my RPM range at about 85 MPH? If it's between 2400-2600 I think I could live with that. Also, years ago you could change the speedometer gear to make the speedometer read correctly, I'm sure everything today is a sensor, is it possible to calibrate everything to read correctly? or, just live with the speedo being off a certain MPH. I Just Don't Know

Just made the change from 3.73s to 4.10s on my '98 MN6. Don't give it a second thought with respect to RPMs, as the RPM increase is not worth worrying about. On the other hand, the performance increase is awesome, like somebody bolted on about 50-60 HP. The throttle response is there(!), when you want it!! Make the change man, you'll not regret it!!!
Good luck with your choices.
Joe
