I've been gone for a couple years because I sold my 2003 Vert, but I had severe withdrawal and bought another one. This time it is the 50th Anniversary Edition convertible with 36,000 miles. It is in excellent condition and I'm very happy but apparently a previous owner changed out the magnetic shocks and replaced them with regular ones. I took the car for a short test drive at the dealer and the warning of inoperative shocks didn't pop up. Naturally on the drive home it started dinging and flashing all kinds of warnings. I tried the local Chevy dealer and they gave me a lost look when I asked them to turn off the F55 function. I even gave them a print out with explicit step by step instructions on how to turn it off using a Tech 2. Said they would get back to me but never heard anything. Then I went to the local Cadillac dealer and the service rep told me that GM had changed the software in their equipment eliminating the ability to turn off the function. Then I called a local independent mechanic shop and got nothing but excuses that there were too many sensors that would have to be dealt with.
Watched a lot of videos and read posts on this forum about doing it yourself. Bought a Chinese clone of the Tech 2, followed the instructions and NO MORE warnings! Just like the old ads for Zippo lighters, works the first time every time. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks. I had some concerns about the Chinese clone, but I read some good reviews on it and took a chance. Glad I did.
Congrats on the new to you C5, sometimes the best bet is a shop that specializes in sports cars and corvettes specifically, never and I mean never take your car to what we refer to as a Stealership.
