Default Power steering leak locations?

Are there any common locations for the power steering to leak? I'm taking the subframe out tomorrow to replace it, and while I've got the space/everything in the power steering drained and disconnected, I'd like to take care of the leak while I can. I saw the high pressure hose was contacting the subframe, but it doesn't look like it wore through. Any thoughts?

Your situation is tough as your car has been in an accident so anything is possible. It might be best to pull the unit and do an inspection. Yes, it is a pain but that's is really the only way to know for sure.

The steering rack will be coming out when I drop the subframe. Basically I'll have everything out except the pump and reservoir. I just wasn't sure if there was a common place that these cars could leak from that I should look at first.

The rubber grommet where the wires go thru for the magnasteer unit is a common leakage point on the C5 steering racks. That's where mine was leaking.

Is there a fix? I took the rack out last night and cleaned it. Didn't see any obvious leaks but the harness and the area around it was pretty nasty.

Mine was the same way but it was obvious that's where it was leaking from. I cleaned it very thoroughly with brake cleaner and used a good epoxy sealant over top of the wires and grommet. Not my preferred way to fix it but it worked and hasn't leaked since.
