Service Steering Column Lock Issue!

I have a 97 corvette I bought recently and I had the service steering column lock message come on the dash a few days ago. I am not having any issues with the actual wheel just the message. I read the sticky, and ordered a column lock bypass. When I went to install it, it looks like there is one already on there. What am I supposed to do to get this message to go away?? Thanks!

Suggest doing the brown wire attachment that is an additional step explained in the directions that sometimes takes care of the problem.

It's not fixed for good. My car has the LMC5, had to do the brown wire mod right out of the gate. Worked most of the time. I think I'm done with it for good now, just changed a yes into a no. It worked for this guy.
