Default Wiring harness difference

Just out of a sense of practical curiosity and the possibility that I might end up being better off just replacing the whole engine harness than repairing the rodent damage, what is the compatibility or difference between a 6MT harness and a harness for an automatic? I have a 2004 6-speed coupe, if it makes a difference.

How are you making out on this? I just killed a rat that has ripped into my wiring in the battery area. Have not pulled the fuse box yet by the battery. Assuming it will be bad, based on the volume of codes being thrown. I also have a 2004 6 speed.

I have gotten down to just one knock sensor wire to repair, but I now have to admit that I have fallen into analysis paralysis. I can't seem to decide whether or not to pull off the headers to try to make the starter better (basically touching the header, but the starter is wrapped and the header is also wrapped. Or I could just fix the last wire, throw the intake manifold back on, and send it. Maybe that's the best thing to do, because that would not only let me hear it roar again quickly (but probably briefly), but it would also let me see how I did on fixing the harness. To answer your question, the wires need to just be extended and go back color to color. In my case, the only ones in which I don't have full confidence are 2 green with white stripe wires that are in the same big plug behind the battery. You will want to pull the passenger side fender well cover from behind the front wheel to ensure no damage to the PCM or TCM harnesses, and you might want to pull the intake manifold to inspect and repair the knock and MAP sensor harnesses.

Update. After much thought, I am going to venture into unknown territory with a harness from a 2001-2003 Z06. From talking to the Corvette shop that was parting out the car, , they have heard that it is simply the moving around some of the harness pins where it connects to the PCM and color of plugs. All else is the same. Hoping to confirm this for 2004 owners. Will be throwing on a set of 243 heads while on the top end messing with this.
