Hey guys, It's been quite some time since I've posted on the forum. The car's just been running since the complete engine and trans rebuild a few years ago. Well that was until my drive to work today when the brakes got suspiciously soft. Fluids still full (dirtier than id like) and no visible leaks like you'd expect when i can just put my foot to the floor. My best guess is a master cylinder failure. Just wondering if there's any other common problems that i'm overlooking.
Also, as i'm diving in to replace the master what should i replace it with? OEM? Any beneficial performance options? I'll likely replace the booster while i'm there. what else should be on the list in that area of the braking system?
Recently replaced mine with an ACDelco Professional 18M2441. It was $90 off Amazon. I believe DRM used to have an upgraded version of the master cylinder, but it's no longer available. Since you have a 2000, you can also install DRM's rear brake bias spring. It should help even out brake pad wear and reduce dive on braking.
Other than the above, make sure to bench bleed the master thoroughly and flush out the old fluid.
