Just curious if anybody's come across this before, I've done hours of searching with nobody having anything similar. 2000 convertible, Pulled the number 4 mini fuse and it still clicks I thought it got power from SCM. Took the SCM apart looked clean wiped it with alcohol anyway put everything back together all connections are good and free of corrosion. Telescoping wheel does not work and the actuator cable clicks every 10 seconds. Tried the soft stop reset with no movement.
Mine did a similar thing. I had the memory whatever turned on. Get in and all your settings move the seat, mirrors and steering wheel. But when I was driving the steering wheel would telescope in to the lowest setting and keep trying to go lower, clicking every few seconds. Drove me nuts. I finally thought and turned off the memory settings and it doesn't do it anymore. I can set the steering wheel where I want it while driving and stays there.
Alternatively, if it is in the position you want simply disconnect or cut and later add a quick disconnect wire to the unit.
My 2000 had every option on the books except HUD and the car was sadly a lemon from mile zero with repeated, frequent electronic and wiring issues related to this topic. I quite enjoy my 1999 and now my Z06 with fewer issues to face down the road.
