i have a 2002 corvette and it was running rough so i pulled off the throttle body cleaned it and put on a new TPS now it will not run any suggestions thanks in advance it was throwing codes p1120 p0036 p1220 p1514 p1516
P1120 isTHROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT ; p1220 isTHROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR 2 CIRCUIT ; p1514 is ; THROTTLE BODY PERFORMANCE p1516 is THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL (TAC) MODULE THROTTLE ACTUATOR POSITION PERFORMANCE
VETTENUTS does not list a p0036, nor does another site, recheck that code.
Check the TPS wiring and plug pin connections, no help put the old TPS back in and recheck codes.
If the car will run, clear all codes and see what comes up after shutdown without turning key OFF.
Welcome to the Forum !!…1120 and 1220 DTC’s are “circuit” DTC’s which are wiring issues vs. your 2 “performance” DTC’s…check your connections and hopefully an OE sensor was installed…your new sensors 6 wires may be pinned incorrectly…you have two 5 volt reference wires, 2 signals, and 2 grounds…all can be checked with a DVOM for proper operation.
P0336 is a crank sensor “performance” DTC vs a P0335 which is a “circuit” (wiring) DTC and can cause the engine to run rough…if your engine is just cranking but not starting look at your Tach when cranking…if it doesn’t move this can be a bad crank sensor…seeing if you have spark and injector pulse is a way to nail it down…pull a plug wire off any coil and see if the spark jumps to ground or to the coil pack while cranking…to check for injector pulse remove an easy to get to injector 2 wire harness connector…the striped wire is injector control…take a 12 volt incandescent (not LED) test light and connect it to B+ at either the alternator or battery…crank the engine while touching the tip of the test light to the striped wire terminal…the test light will blink if injector control is good…the PCM grounds that control wire so that is why we connect the test light to B+…when the test light finds a ground it will illuminate…if CKP sensor is bad use an OE sensor and not aftermarket.
