I have a 2003 Corvette with the a4 that keeps messing up torque tube couplers. It makes a knocking noise at idle and I can't find any video anywhere online that sounds similar. when you lift the car up you can hear the noise from both the trans bellhousing and the engine bellhousing. It'll make the most noise when the trans temps go over 80 degrees. I had the torque tube rebuilt with new couplers and bearings about a year ago when it started making this noise the first time. when they took the assembly apart they found that the couplers were twisted and deformed(I didnt save a picture of one of the couplers). Versus everything I see online from other people who replaced their couplers they seem to just start cracking and falling apart from old age. So this along with the premature failure of the rebuild only lasting a year leads me to think something else is causing the failure. The car is completely stock. I've decided that I'm gonna just do the job myself and see what I can see when I take it apart myself and save myself some money but I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar problem and what you did to fix it. Thanks in advance.
