timing cover off my ls6. The three semicircles specifically.

Seal is shot, other than that ya circles are just from when the part was originally cast.
You can sand it all out and polish it or have it Powder coated. Powder coating Aluminum is hit miss as it gives off gas when its baked.

Ooops wrong end of engine but may be worth a contact to see if they have the timing cover also.

That's kind of where I was at with the whole thing when I took it off - it looked pretty knackered up. From the looks of it I think everything on the front of this 145k mile engine is/was original. Water pump has an integrated thermostat, if that is an accurate way of carbon dating the damn thing. It's getting a new oil pump, timing chain, cover and seal, and a balancer. The water pump bolts were pretty rusty and the timing cover bolts had some RTV on them.
