Noticed tonight as i was backing into the garage gauges started to malfunction and dash said reduce engine power for like 10 seconds and then everything went back to normal then it did it again like on and off any ideas what is causing this ?
With a scan tool checking for DTC’s may help…REP can be caused by a few things…TPS, APP sensors…I’ve seen MAF issues causing this too.
1.Tried to check codes but DTC says no comm 2. i checked my battery i bought it last week it has 12.5 volts but 0 CCA car starts as normal though 3. i used a Tech 2 scan tool and under the BCM i got code U1016 and U1096 as for the PCM i got code P0650 4. while i was using the scan tool it kept losing communication with the car as well as the reduce engine power goes off and on every 10 seconds or so
Don't know what you mean by "battery has 12.5 volts but 0 CCA" ???...I think 1016 and 1096 is loss of comm with PCM and BCM...if a ground or 12 volts shows up on the single wire Class 2 data line you will not be able to communicate with the car at all...you can start by checking the powers and grounds on the PCM and BCM.

i checked the battery with a battery tester it came up 12.5 volts and 0 cold cranking amps but the car starts up as normal
