I experienced bad wheep hop and poor traction at athe track last night. The track did not seem to be prepped well and one car took a right turn right off the line and hit the wall! It understand that bad traction = tire spin, but what the hell is going on with the violent wheel hop? Bad suspension components? I did just install a new clutch with an aluminum flywheel, but I can't imagine that is contributing to this. I did not have this problem at all last time I went to the drags. I have had wheel hop in other cars, but this was with very good traction. Help
I have a 98 Coupe MN6 speed and I get this alot. Not all of the time but I notice it more if Im in first , going about 10-15 mph and punch it. I get spin then it turns into violent hop. I have to get off of the gas to make it stop. Man I wish someone could figure this problem out.
Once in a while if I light the tires up from a dead stop I get the same problem. I do not have run flats. Someone told me that the stiff side walls on the run flats caused it :skep: Changed tires to BFG's and still have the problem, not as bad though.
Does anybody have an opinion on wheel hop.
I have an 02 ZO6 and it has NO wheel hop :D The only thing that I can figure out is the 98 has F45 suspension and the ZO6 has better shocks.
weak stabilizer bar. Probably the small one. The Z's have a thicker one. When one wheel wants to hop it puts stress on the bar trying to force the other side up as well. If the bar is thin it will flex and hop will happen. With a thicker roll bar it prevents this... kinda wierd to explain but just kinda think about it. Last time i went to the track a buddy had a broken end link on his sway bar. He had wheel hop.. gee i wonder what it was !!!
