Remove MAF screen?
I don't really want to remove the maf screen but can I buy something that has it already removed? If so what can I buy?

The 2002-2003 Z06 MAFs dont have the screen. I would investigate compatibility though.

I'm sure you could pick up a stock MAF in the Parts for Sale section fairly cheap. That way you have an extra. Just a thought.
By the way, it won't hurt anything if you remove the screen. Then gain, you won't really gain anything either.

Re: Remove MAF screen? (QuickSilver97)
I heard someone said that another (hearsay...) person removed it and said they had a pinging sound.
Would I just be wasting my money on a new one? That is the only difference between the new and old one is the removed screen only.

I agree. I removed mine and didn't have any problems...but then I didn't gain anything either. It's sort of like the TBB...no gain, no loss...but then why even bother. I've heard of some surging problems. My advice is to just leave it as it is.

I removed mine when I installed my blackwing. Don't know if it helped, but haven't had any problems either. :flag

Re: Remove MAF screen? (JeffsVette)
Granatelli has a performance MAF sensor for the C5. Pretty costly but they say it also increases airflow and performance (what else would they say though if they expect to sell them). It supposedly has slightly different electronics. Don't know if it is true or not, but I'll find out soon enough. I've ordered this MAF sensor and BBK throttle-body to install with my Blackwing, new air-bridge and Borla Stingers. I'll be able to let you know if this overall setup does much good.

Re: Remove MAF screen? (BlueDream)
I was thinking about that. I just might get it. I just installed the blackwing. Should I get a new air bridge along with it?
Tell me when you get it done please. Thanks

Re: Remove MAF screen? (hogurt)
FWIW,
I've seen more than 1 person post here that they've recorded losses on the dyno with the Granatelli MAF. I know one was down 10 rwhp.
Good luck.

removed mine also upon installment of Blackwing. The Granefetti(sp) unit is if
I remember correctly is larger therefore less air velocity(counterproductive)
unless you have a motor that is modified to handle the addition volume not velocity of air.
