I decided to go back to a wet battery. Put in a Group 78 rather than a 75 for the extra reserve capacity, as suggested by C5 Diag, and while it indeed fits, it is a tight fit but secures well, so I am happy, I think. I will definitely keep an eye out for leaks. Thanks for all the help.

Sad to see the changes in quality. My original Red Top lasted 19 yrs, on a tender in the winters and stored in a heated garage. Its replacement Red Top lasted 2.5 yrs but had a 3 yr replacement warranty. Will see how long this one lasts.
