Default LS 6 Question

My C5 Z06 has the factory LS6 motor. Watching the Mecum auction today numerous 70 Chevelles have big block LS6 motors. How does two different engines have the same desigation ?

GM will reuse the RPO codes for new models. They did it with other engine options like the LT1.

I always wondered why they did that too.

It's easy, they want you to trust that the new engine will be badass like the last one was that wore that moniker.

And usually the newer version is more badass but idk about that when it comes to the LS6. I'm not complaining about my LS6, I love it but its no torque monster the 70/71 LS6 is.

But at the trade off of 200 lbs on the nose of the car.

If ur comparing the old ls6 engine ls6 back in the day to the new revamped ls engine after the 1997 these days r completely different if that what ur asking. Yell at me if im wrong.
They have no computer control sensors. reluctor. completely different. no Fuel injection. roller cams. they had tappet and or soild cams. 1.5 or 6 rocker ratio . It was a one of a kind setup up just like the gs c7 and c7 675hp forced induction models package. It was supposed to compete was the other big blocks from the different manufactures. Everything big and powerful. Thats why they auctioned for so much. I was watch also. 2019 corvette 300k WTF Tell me that wasn't a good investment.
PS and don't think the ls6 big block is anywhere that hp these days with out race fuel. almost 12.1 comp or 87 with lowering timing.. Thats old technology not like the newer ls with same compression using 91 92 93 even 87 octane with not that drastic hp loss because the computer controls detention control where they we'll blow there engines.
