So how much fluid does the automated bleed procedure normally take? I’m finding myself having to stop several times per corner…just so the MC doesn’t run dry. It’s working at least, I can hear the ABS pump actuate and I did manage to get out some air and dirty fluid, but actually had to stop because I didn’t have enough fluid to finish. Between replacing the MC and just the front brakes, I used almost 2L of fluid. Wow.
Does stopping mid procedure to top off have an affect on the process?
I’m thinking of just running a longer hose to the bleeder so I don’t have to be underneath the car, and having an assistant on hand to keep the MC topped off. I do have one of those ‘one man bleeder’ cups on the hose to keep from sucking air back in to the caliper through the bleeder.
Nope you’re good… I just did this procedure yesterday. If you open the bleeder screw all the way open, it’s about half a quart for each caliper... I personally don’t open it up all the way. It wastes too much fluid. I open just enough to get about a 1/4 of a quart out. I feel it’s more important to get new fluid through the ABS tech 2 process. Then I flush the entire system as normal. I use about 1.5 liters for my entire process
