Default DIC and Right side button bank not working

Nothing ever shows up on the DIC- none of the buttons on the right side change anything on the HUD except changing from US/Metric. Any ideas?

Right side buttons won't affect hud anyway. Hud is on your windshield, not in your gauge cluster or with the dic.

If dic and buttons on right side are out? Suggests a fuse is gone as they are not on the same pcb board and have separate harness connections.

Are your brake/rear turn/rear running lights out? Interior lights able to come on?

Check the manual for which fuses to verify. Or just check them all. Probably the issue. And if not then you have eliminated one easy variable.

Or if the dic is out and not lit you'd never know if the right side buttons are working or not. If you say the e/m works on the gauge cluster... Then they all work on the right side and possibly only your dic is broken or fuse busted...if the dic has its own.... Which I doubt it does. So maybe dic portion of dash is out?

The DIC buttons lose their spring like action and short out the chip in the instrument panel. You will need to change the instrument panel and make sure the one you buy has the buttons in it and that the instrument panel has the connector for the HUD, some dont

HUD connector can be added and soldered in. All gauge clusters have it.

I haven't encountered this type of failure yet. Strange! Since I have been a C5 owner on/off since 2000 with nearly 200k miles under me. Pain in the neck for the buttons to short out the DIC if that's the case. Wow.

That being said, I have a complete Z06 gauge cluster for sale which has under 12k miles on it if you're looking.

I had this happen to mine. The chip for the DIC is no longer available. I bought another panel and installed it and sent my old panel to one of the members to try and come up with a repair
There is also a chip in the panel that has the odometer info that needs to be changed also

U something. Chip U14? U13? A faded memory from a decade ago. The cluster can be reprogrammed by a gm tech to match the car's odometer reading.
