Had a windshield job done recently - a mistake was made by the technician and one of the seals was not glued properly which caused water to get inside the car when it was raining.
Both drivers and passengers side floors are wet - not too much, but enough to where some water comes up if I press down on the floor.
What are the next steps? Will removing the seats and using a shop vac to clean out the water be enough, or am I looking at a carpet removal and cleaning or carpet replacement?
And what about insurance - is it ever worth filing a water damage claim if I am planning on selling the car in a few years?
To answer your question, if you pull the seats and get after the carpet with a shop vac and you will be pretty good. Finish with the heater, blowing on the carpet for 30 minutes to dry compltly.
Now, go back to the shop and get it fixed the right way.
Forgot to mention - I took it back and made the installer double check everything and he re glued a seal that the leak came from
Had the car out under heavy rain for a bit to test it out and there were no more leaks at all. Hopefully that solved the issue permanently
Also the installer dude denied doing anything wrong, kept trying to tell me that the leak didn’t come from the windshield. We all know it did but he was denying it for his own sake
Is there anything else I can do to force him to fix this? Also I’m 18 I don’t know too much about this, that’s why I’m askin y’all

It’s hard to squeeze blood from a rock. Unless you go through your insurance company, or your Dad is really scary, you’re just butting heads. Good luck.
Taking out the carpet is not that hard, just tedious, but you sure as hell don’t want mold in the car. Perhaps you could get by with leaving some good size fans blowing into the areas where water leaked. Leave the doors and hatch open all night with the fans blowing on high. Definitely pull out the carpet/cover covering the electronics at the base of the passenger footwell so that gets completely dry.

Issue is fixed, I used a vacuum to extract the liquid, ran the mats in the dryer, then let the moisture get out by parking the car in the sun and leaving the windows down. Car is back to how it should be 👌
I used some carpet cleaner on mine (both sides and the trunk area) after drying. Let it dry and then vacuumed it out. My bad,,, also,, left the window down on the passenger side just enough to let the rain in....
So just went ahead and cleaned all the carpets..
