Default Left Diff cover stud question

Fixing the leaky left diff seal on my 02, and I have a question. After getting the diff cover stud out, has anyone ever replaced the threaded stud with a bolt to make it easier to get out if the cover ever starts seeping again? Seem to me this would make sense, just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Yep, that’s the one. And I could not get the one in my car to break loose, worked on it for 4 hours before I gave up.

Don't waste your time it took me full day and still I can't get that stud out I called my friend he's a mechanic guy he bring from his shop the welding machine he weld the nut to the stud just just a little couple point ..the stud come lose very easy .. do not use regular bolt to replace the stud . The stud very hard and it's keep the differential from any shake or lose you need to reuse the stud again by cleaning the weld from the nut to separated from the stud to use it again ... Use the grinder if you want to clean the weld from the nut

Because you got lucky .. I tried the way you do it doesn't work there is no space for the nut to go in . GM should to make the stud more longer so we can have a space for the nut ...

I remember that I had to use a thinner nut like the one in the above photo to get this to work, on my back, it was a PITA.

In my case, the stud won 😡🤬. I tried the double nut trick, but the nuts themselves just kept backing off the stud. After clean up, I think the axle seal was really slinging a bunch of crud and it has been replaced on both sides. If the diff cover keeps seeping, I’m going to pay someone to do it. I know when I'm defeated!,
