My son wants to go back to Hallsville in the near future. He wants his 12 sec run in his F150 Harley in the worst way :D . He is still on the stock 20 inch radials, so it will be tough, but being only 0.002 sec away, all it will take is a perfect launch and he will have it. However, all good things will come to an end, as the air will soon turn too warm (>50 degrees!).
I think someone told me the STR of the Vigilante was 2.5, so you are most likely correct. Whatever it is, I am pleased with the Vigilante. It is a great converter no doubt and makes it possible for me to break the 11 sec. barrier. Seems like the F Body guys are more prone to use this brand as opposed to the Yank, which seems to have a great following here. No matter what, a high stall converter is definitely the first mod. every A4 owner should do if he wants super acceleration.
Hopefully, but next Sun is the EAGLES Championship game, and the next Sunday is the SUPERBOWL, and also temps in the low 30's means ATCO will probably remain CLOSED for a few more weeks..
Look for me to break into the 11's, by late Jan, or early Feb... :smash:
I do not know the exact elevation, probably around 500-600 feet ASL.
The temperature/humidity/barometric pressure made the air density altitude equivalent to -1400 feet!!!!!! If we raced here in August, it would be +2800 feet or so! So, for us Texas racers to take advantage of cool air, we have to try to race in the winter or early spring/late fall. Otherwise, the temps kill the performance of the engine (unless you make your atmosphere with NOs!).
Well, for one, I do not have a scanner. I guess I could take a digital picture of it and send it to you. My digital camera is over at my son's house. I would have to have my son post it on the forum as I do not know how.
I am a trusting type :blueangel: and if you do not believe me, I guess that is your problem. :D I am too old to worry about things like that.
I did copy them and posted them earlier up the page. I guess that is not enough, so just for you, I will scan the three time slips and send them to you tomorrow from work. What is your e-mail address?
Also Bruce, you do realize that if I ran these runs in temps 15 degrees warmer, my times would be 12.05 to 12.1 which would obviously not be as impressive. And, run them in the middle of the summer and I would be posting 12.3's. I would not be asked to post the slips I bet! It’s all in the air density vs performance equation. I just took advantage of the conditions. I’ll do it again this weekend when we will have slightly warmer temps (low 50’s) but the air will still support DA’s of –500 feet.
NOT THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU, BUT WHY NOT POST YOUR TIME SLIP?
What does that prove, he has a timeslip that has a 11 second pass on it? It could be from a friends car, or a slip he picked up off the ground.
The only way to prove that his car made that pass would be to have it on videotape. But then again, you don't know what's really done with his car without tearing it apart.
I have no doubt his car ran the times it did. With that DA, I would have run almost identical times, maybe .05 slower.
Congrats again Roger, hopefully I'll be joining you in a few weeks.
I know Roger personally as he let me drive his car with the Vig in it so I can get a feel for how it drove last year. He is a really nice guy and I am 100% sure that he ran those times. He is not the type to make up any such claims.
I know Bruce (who I know is a cool guy as well) was just wanting to see the timeslips and he wasn't saying that he didn't believe him, he even said it in his posts. Everything is fine.
I ran a 12.57 at 111 MPH at Ennis in Texas with my 01 A4 with runflat tires, Vortex, and a Powerloader only. The nice thing was that I have it on video. :D
Good job Roger and thanks for being kind enough to meet a stranger last year to let him drive your car, very nice of you!
I am weeks away from ordering my TC, just deciding one more time, do I want a street SY3500 or a hard hitter like a ST3500??
