Seems like there is a great debate as to the best spark plug wires to use on C5 vettes. There are 7MM - 7.5MM 8MM and more. Should I buy OEM from a dealer or go aftermarket. I have my new plugs and would appreciate your response Thx Max

GMPP red wires known as "Z06 Wires" (which I recently heard are now being manufactured only in black) are 7mm wires. There are plenty of suppliers with red ones still in stock. Just buy from a reputable supplier so you don't get shipped knock-offs. Lots of innacurate advertising stating they are 8mm. They are 7mm of conductor core and 8mm outside diameter.
None the less GMPP are great wires. I've used them for 22 years on multiple different performance builds.
I've run MSD wires since 2004. Those same wires are still doing the job. I've read some posts that claimed there were some issues with later MSD LS/C5 specific wires. I've never had any issues with mine. I have a set of brand new, old stock GMPP red LS7 wires. I believe they were run for the dyno run the motor made when new in 2014. They've been in a drawer in my garage ever since. Only see the light of day when I open the drawer looking for something else that I thought was in there, lol!! Have the metal "boots", too. Just never used them.
I know I am replying to a year old post but I wanted to confirm that these GMPP wires, in this thread, fit the 1999 C5 Base. Whether I look up part # 12495519 or 19433387, none of the GM sites can confirm if these fit. Also, the length of the wires are not listed either so it is hard for me to confirm fit if I don't have all the specifications. I measured the existing wires at 9.5". On another note, does anyone have a part number for a good set of wires with angled boots to clear headers?

Thanks.
“GM 19433387” is the correct part number for all year C5’s and will fit your ‘99 with headers no problem. I have them in my ‘99 with Kooks 1 7/8 headers right now. There is a slight discount on them now at Cultrag Performance.

THese are all you need they also come in 9" too. These are as good or better than mos wires and the metal heat sleeves will fit on the boots too. They come into several colors too.

These are intriguing, especially for the price. The part number listed is fro 12" leads, the 9" lead part number is SUM-867828R. Have you used the Summit Brand wires?
I pretty much exclusively run NGK wires on everything I own. My theory is that matched plugs and wires can’t hurt. We all pretty much agree that NGK makes the best spark plug so why not trust them for the wires too.
In all reality plug wires will not add or loose power they are either working or not so any new set will be just fine.

Got them on now.
Most wires are bade by the same suppliers. Companies add their own boots and clips. They stamps different name on the side. Most companies to not make their own wires.
Like AC plugs most are now NGK.
Plugs oddly can make a difference, GM models have not been fussy but But Chrysler and Honda they can make a big difference.
Granatelli makes “the best” but most people don’t need that. On a NA LS, stock wires are fine unless you have headers and need to manage heat around the wires. I’d really only look at “better” spark plug wires for forced induction and want to mitigate the chance of misfire. In that case you’d want to minimize resistance not just go for the largest diameter. As others have noted, most wires are the same. Quality and fitment is most important. I’d personally stay away from Taylor as I’ve had bad experiences with them.
