I agree, for the most part wires are wires and they should all pretty much work the same for basic street cars. For me, it comes down to quality; quality wire with good solid fitting connectors and good crimps. A wire does not hold onto the plug well is not going to do good and I don't want a wire that will come apart the first time you attempt to remove it from either the plug or the coil (or both). Sounding like I should stick with the GM "reds" as it sounds like many forum members use them with good success.

The major difference are the boots. The clips are mist ly the same.

You can get MSD that has a boot the bends. Or you can get different size and shapes.

‘The GM wires work find but over time I note from the factory even with low miles they can become brittle. Every set I have done they are stuck on and very brittle at the boot. There is a ton of heat on the LS boots and using the best boots and dielectric grease with the metal sleeves is important.

I feel I upgraded to a better boot and silicone while able to retain the sleeves.

GM wires are fine if you plug them in and plan to change them I’d you ever pull them after some time. But if you plan to pull plugs and do checks or work on the car often I would go with a better boot.

I have seen similar issues on cars with headers depending on the plug angle and header size.

Was looking around on the MSD site, the wires they list for the C5 show they are only 8" long, I measured my about 9.5" boot to boot. Do you have a part number on the MSD wires you mentioned??

Thanks for the Part #.

Will the Red Z06 Wires you’re referring to work fine with the D585 Truck Coils on an LS1 in my 99 C5 with colder NGK plugs? It will be supercharged.

I also have Long Tube Headers.

Do these look like genuine ones:

Thanks for the help.
