Seems like your car is falling apart these last few days !!…did you get your headlight and wheel bearing issues resolved ??
I noticed this as well. He's having a lot of disparate issues popup in the course of two weeks. But he's also in the process of having his 243's ported and needed head gasket reccomendations. He may want to hold off on the performance upgrades until he gets all the other kinks worked out.
Was a trunk mounted CD a specific, factory installed item or can you do a "plug and play" after market? I had one in a BMW back in the day and thought it was pretty cool.
There is a guy in Huntsville Texas that repairs them. He modifies the unit and it must be mounted horizontal. doctordons.com
You should call and get an estimate first. It may be more than you want to spend.
I had the same thing happen to me last year with my 98' coupe with a rear mounted factory disc changer in the trunk cavity. I was using the interface cable in between the harness and the changer to give an 1/8" aux input. The flaw with that adapter was that the cd needed to run triggering voltage to work the aux on the factory radio which had a cassette deck so when the cd player died for me, no more ipod stuff. So...... do i invest in repairing or purchasing 25 year old electronic technology ? Could not do it. To many moving parts in those units to think it would last so went with an aftermarket retro fit that destroyed nothing, can go back to stock any time and has 1/8, flashdrive and bluetooth inputs as well as normal radio. Carrying my music on a flashdrive makes everything easier. Was about $200 from Crutchfield.

I sent mine out to Dr. Don. He fixed it and warranties it for life. Who's life remains to be seen... I reinstalled it and it has worked perfectly since. Not cheap...
I just traded my c5, but I talked with don. He said the changer needs to be mounted horizontally after he repair. Just fyi to the c5 group. I’m always passing along valuable info. !!!!

This is correct. I mounted mine horizontally under the trunk floor to the existing GM brackets. Works perfectly.
I posted my Crutchfield invoice. There are a lot of options that fit and you need the antenna adapter and the Bose adapter to keep the integrity of the sound system, Mine sounds great. I also had them make the harness for easy hookup. The website will lead you through it.
