What kind of shop did you take it to ???… if a general repair or a dealership they DON’T have any idea on how to diagnose something like this…all they will do is replace parts until they fix it unless it’s something electrical and then they are WAY clueless…a diagnostic shop or an auto electric shop is where you want to take it if not trying to diagnose it yourself…if a TB issue using a scope will diagnose this problem quickly…unfortunately 999 out of a thousand shops or dealerships don’t use one !!…seeing what DTC’s you have is the first step to diagnose this !!…where do you live ??
I like his honesty. Grew up working with my dad and his small air conditioning business. He used to explain how people will pay a lot of money for parts, but they freak out when they have to pay labor to diagnose a problem. He would try to explain that paying for a couple of hours of diagnostic labor would end up saving money for multiple service trips and useless parts being changed. The same issue with cars.

Well it’s good to see someone who “gets it”…LOL…I don’t think I have ever seen anyone here on the Forum who has taken their car to a dealership and that it was diagnosed quickly with only one part that was changed and was fixed…diagnosing cars require a different skill set than replacing parts and diagnosing isn’t learned by doing that….”not all mechanics are diagnosticians but all diagnosticians are mechanics” !!
!!
Rob (C5Diag) is one of the nicest and smartest guys on the forum, especially at diagnosing and electronics. OP-He asked you where you lived because if there's any way you could get the car to him, he'd probably help you out for nothing, or next to nothing. Hell, Rob has even made house calls!!! I'm not volunteering his time and money, but the hit you'll take on the car selling it as-is would be far greater than having it flatbedded to his place, and maybe giving him a decent tip, as long as you're not 5,000 miles away. $$$ is none of my beeswax, but I'll say this; you'll never find such a good tech for any amount of $$$$. for C5Diag!!

thanks for the recommendation. However I am 3000 miles away!
Wow! They bought the car with issues? And high mileage? I might have to get a quote from them!
I am having similar issues with my 2003 Anni coupe. Mechanic has had it for 8 weeks, replaced throttle body and pedal position sensor. Still goes into "reduced engine power" mode. The codes are P1125 - TP/APP Sensor Circuit Problem and P1286 - APP Sensor 3 Circuit Performance. Thousands of dollars into this repair already and I think I'm at my limit. Any suggestions/advice from the Forum? TIA!
Most mechanics either at general repair shops or dealerships just look at codes and replace parts as yours did a few thousand dollars later and don’t know how to properly diagnose these issues…find a diagnostic shop in your area and take it there !!…good luck !!
