Default C5 Service Active Handling Light

Hello,

This light came on this morning on the way into the office. The DIC shows C1292H. It still drives without problems. It came on when I had the wheel slightly turned right waiting for traffic to go thru so I can go. At noon it goes into service for adding brakes/rotors and brake fluid flush. After I turned off the corvette, it disappeared. It is at 90,900 miles. This is the first time this light has came on. As I mentioned when I got into a parking lot. I turned off the corvette, and than turned it back on and it was gone. I'm not too worried about it, unless it comes up again... I'm not technical savy when it comes to cars - but the DIC showed that code.

The Brake fluid is extremely old, and nasty. For the brakes it is also time to go.

I will be having the mechanic bleed the brakes, and remove the old brake pads/rotors. This is as scheduled today, prior to the light arriving. I guess it's ironic?

Some quick reading suggests it may be related more to the electronics side of things, i.e. brake light switch that's on the pedals assembly. Some good info here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ing-decel.html

The "H" means it is "History" and no longer active. You mentioned that you went around corners and the light came on and eventually off. You system is working as designed. You need to go into your DIC diagnostics and clear out the code. This is a 2 minute job.

Good work getting new fluids and checking things out.

Look up on YouTube how to clear the codes. Give it a drive and see what comes back. Report back.

Hi all-

I had the brakes/rotors and the fluid changed out. Since then I haven't had any problems wit the light coming on.. So far so good! roughly 200 miles on the C5 after the install.
