Default Z06 Trans or Diff leak?

Hello Everyone, I have this leak that shows up after sitting for months or really hard driving. It’s collecting on the top tab of the transmission under the CAGS solenoid but I replaced that o ring last year.

I also noticed there was some fluid on the lower portion of the passenger side diff. Exact same color. Light brown like In the picture. My thought was the diff was leaking from the seal and some how kicking it back on the trans. Or the cags is leaking again, running Down the side and blowing back onto the diff? Someone also mentioned it could be the fill location on the trans because there is no Teflon on the plug. Any advice Is appreciate. Car is a 2001 z06 with 32k miles.

Theres a breather vent right above where the leak is. Most likely coming out there. If i remember correctly or the other side anyway check for oil. Did you run hard or over fill it it lately??

This is on the driver side Trans right next to the CAGS. I have been trying to find where the breather vent was on the trans. I just took it out of the other day for the first time since September since it has been nasty here in pittsburgh. Drove around and did happen to do a little burnout and a few small pulls. I have not changed the fluid since I purchased it in July.

The bearther is on top of trans just off center. U might need a mirror because exhaust might be n ur way to getting ur head up there. Well anyways its not going to hard anything. ANd that looks like engine oil or its just the picture, it should be red. Well trans oil should definitely b different color than motor oil. Cant see it being that dirty with only 32k The years don't discolor oil it's the wear and tear. that does.

from where I looked I didn’t seem engine oil leaking from the pan or anything, and I figure if it was. Shouldn’t I have spots on the floor under the oil pan or atleast have a good bit of splatter?

this picture was before I cleaned the trans and there was a ton of grime on it that the fluid was running through. Where it ran down on the trans casing it was much more brownish red.

This shows the vent location from my 04 Z06 when I had it apart this past summer.

As you can see it breathes out the passenger side.

Okay this is more of what I was thinking. I believe my actually skip shift solenoid is leaking internally. I found a few other threads on the LS1 forum and the early model C6 that use the t56 that have the exact same drip/leak that I do and it was the Solenoid not leaking passed the O ring but the actual part leaking internally out of the plastic part of the sensor. I ordered the bolt to block the skip shift hole off since I have the bypass. Thank you for posting this.
