Default Installing speed engineering headers

I ordered 4-2-1 headers and catless x-pipe

I have a 2000, I know that it's for 2001-2004 but the <2000 need oil dip stick

What's the PN? What can I get?

Secondly, what clamps and gaskets do you guys recommend as I've been told the supplied stuff is junk? PNs?

What emission crap can be taken off?

@Tusc @Mr. Black

Each of these guys have done this. Hopefully they’ll get back to you…

I followed Black and went with the Evil Energy vbands.

If removing emissions, you can get rid of the pipe and adapters from the AIR system as well as the pump on the nose and anything associated. However, you need to tune it out of your ECU or it will set a code somewhere.

Stick I don't know. Source a newer style from the yard or just make your old one work. I think the biggest thing is the newer one has a tab which attached at the header area under a bolt. You can weld a piece to the tube and do that or you can rig up any number of connections.

Now that I think about it, EE also makes band clamps.

I don't normally pimp out crappy videos that I've made on youtube but in this case I think it clearly shows how we set up and installed these headers.

The long short of it is, get rid of the AIR system. Weld on v bands at the collectors if you so desire. I personally can't stand slip fit collectors. Whatever you do for a mid pipe I strongly encourage you to get it welded up. Do not put clamps all over it of any variety.

It goes without saying the only reason that the Speed Engineering mid pipe assembly comes in 20 pieces is for packaging purposes.

Oh I forgot, there was actually a forum member that posted a week or two ago that did similar to how I set mine up only it was done professionally lol. It looked show worthy.

Found a link to the thread.

The only thing I would possibly do different is move the v band location so it's like mine. The only reason for that is the way his are configured you would IMO have to be on a lift to get those headers in an out because once welded up the way he has them they are now like 2 feet longer as an assembly.

The @Tusc @Mr. Black one two punch once again. Nailed it.

I "third" the Mr. Black approach. Weld Vbands closer to collectors. Get it all sorted then weld midpipe together. Leave connection to catback as a bolted flange.

In my case I have a slip fit band clamps between my collectors and collector extensions. Then at the end of the extensions I have V-Bands connecting to the midpipe which has cats and X pipe. I have no issues with things moving with the slip fit band clamps. They also provide more ground clearance (when room is at a premium on lowered cars).

Thank you guys, I'm collecting this info for the mechanic.

What about O2 sensors? I think mine need replacing anyway as they've never been replaced (2000). I was getting codes occasionally, it would come and go (maybe it is just the old cats? Now going catless though)

What about gaskets? PNs?

I ordered this for spark plug wire heat shield, 6 inch length heat shield 2000 degree

For wrapping the headers I googled and found on amazon.ca DEI titanium wrap, just not sure what size/length/how much...

This is 2" x 25ft
