Nothings cheap on the Corvette Mod program
Alot of members have made covers (similar to Z06) and other items. Becareful with intake as one mistake and hydrolock :cry :cry , look for a Blackwing used on Forum or Exit28 for new deal with hoodseal.
You could start by either opening up (via drilling 1in. holes) or removing the stock airbox lid (use zipties over the lid frame to keep the filter sealed). No hydrolock issues by doing this, and if you're worried about the few drops of water that can dribble on the airbox/filter when you open the hood, just get or make a hood seal ($15).
Removing the MAF screen is free (some people have experienced surging or other issues after doing this, but they seem to be the exception - most have done this mod with excellent results).
Some convertible owners have removed their sunvisors.
Some M6 folks have shortened their stock shifters.
Some FRC and convertible owners have constructed sound barriers to go between the cabin and the trunk. Some have also lined their interior with dynamat to suppress noise.
Some people are doing some pretty amazing appearance mods with just a little paint (fuel rail covers, hoodliners, steering wheel emblem, etc.).
I'm sure some folks will chime in with mods I didn't list.....
I built my own intake, but it was not cheap.....It's also not done.
3.5" stainless tubing, y'ed at the maf like a twin flow, but it then turns down through the shroud and then back towards the front with two funnel filters. Probably could have bought a vararam cheaper, but the polished stainless looks good.
I am also in the process of buidling fiberglass rear brake ducts. Got too cold to work in the shop so I don't know how they will turn out. They are about half done, but look pretty cool so far.
I drilled 2 inch holes in the top of my airbox & installed a K&N filter. Also just finished exhaust mod, removed mufflers and came straight back into chrome resonators. Sounds GREAT like a 5.0 Cobra (no flames please, I like that sound). I am presently (I hope) installing the vented fog light housings. I also lowered my car, thanks to the many tips found here on CF. What a great bunch of people we have here. :yesnod:
