Here's something I've been thinking about. Wouldn't a convertible way less than the hatchbacks (the ones with the glass hatch in the back) since there are no electrics in the roof and it is just a frame with a piece of cloth on it?
Actually you are correct. I've seen many convertibles weigh against other C5's on the same scale, and they are more closely related, weight wise to a hardtop (FRC). The FRC weighs the least by a little, simply because it didnt have as many options available to it as the ragtop or coupe. Otherwise its chassis is identical. From the top of the doors up, a coupe and FRC weight more than a ragtop because of the hevier body material and the larger back glasses (even more exaggerated in the coupe). The convertible simply has an aluminum frame, cloth top, and a small back glass.
my 03 convertible weighs 3223 with 1/2 tank of fuel.fuel weighs 6.0 lbs. per gallon GM spec's say a coupe is 3246 & a convertible is 3248, a Z06 3118 :)
