According to the homepage of Chevrolet Europe the (empty) weight of the C5 varies from: 1538 to 1548 Kg. This calculates to 3391 lbs to 3413 lbs, depending of the options you have on your car.

my Z06 is 3050 with no driver and 1/8 tank gas, as measured on the scale at NHRA approved Houston Raceway Park.

Here's something I've been thinking about. Wouldn't a convertible way less than the hatchbacks (the ones with the glass hatch in the back) since there are no electrics in the roof and it is just a frame with a piece of cloth on it?

IF you were referring to a C-4, then you would be correct about a noticable weight difference between the Coupe and Convertible. But... the Vert would weight MORE than the Coupe.
Reason being: The C4 was designed as a Coupe. In 1985, GM decided to add a Convertible C-4 to the stable. The C-4 was not very strong once the top was off the car... so they were forced to design an "X" bar to go under the car and an "I" bar in the from of the car to help make the car stiffer. This additional material added some weight to the car and vastly off-set any savings. The Verts weighed ~100-250lbs more depending upon options.
Fast forward to the design team for the C-5. THey learned from past mistakes and designed the C-5 off of a convertible platform. With that in mind, they aimed to make the car as stiff as possible without over-weighting the Convertible. The Coupe was then designed simply by adding a top... (I am sure more went into it...) Total weight difference between equally optioned Coupe & Convertible is insignificant. (~10lbs.)

My 02 Coupe weighs exactly 1500kg with 1/4 tank of petrol and me in it and 1440kg when I stepped out of it and went to read the scales with the operator. That's about right as I weigh less than 11 stones.
In lbs those weights are approximately 3320, 3190 and 133 !

I put mine on a scale at the Drag strip and it came out to be exactly 3,200 lbs

What bothered me the most from the "sticker" was the capcity of 399 lbs. Guess either my wife our I need to go on a diet. Rethink.......my wife only weighs___ Dayum, ok I'll start tomorrow. :lol: :D :lol:
