Default Oil Pressure Sensor Relocation & Alternative Sensor

I've been reading through old threads on this and having trouble finding a brass body oil pressure sensor, also having issues finding the relocation kit on Summit
Also saw some bits about using a sensor from a Buick Enclave instead? How much cheaper is the Buick part to bother with? Is it because it has a lifetime warranty but the Chevy one does not?

Anyone have recent leads on these parts?

1 year ebay warranty, but since I've read parts through AutoAdvanceReillyNapaZone might have lifetime warranties, that'd be worth looking into

Also, depends on if you want a stock 16 mm X 1.5 mm sensor or a 1/4 in. NPT Buick sensor. You can use either, depending on the type
the relocation kit needs

There are several threads that cover the parts needed to make your own and the install process.

Instead of the funky brass fitting in the block with a ready to snap off -4an fitting, how about a cool m16 to -6an fitting and a cool reducer to the hose?

Those sensors were used in many GM cars. Not sure why the C5 has so many issues.

Anyway, those sensors are 0-130 psi. The ecu is calibrated for that. Sadly a good 100psi sensor won’t read correctly.

@RonSSNova

Are you referring to the Buick sensor being the 100psi culprit?

I don't know about the Buick sensor. I guess you would just have to try one. Probably hard to get a spec sheet.
The clue as many have noted, is the reading of 130 psi when the sensor breaks.

I did the Buick sensor in my car over 15 years ago and it has never failed me since. Reads as it should and could be replaced in 5 mins if I ever had to.

I'm about to pull my intake and relocate the oil pressure sensor. I think this question was answered in another thread, but just to confirm, how far will the electrical wiring for the plug that goes into the top of the sensor reach? I'll be using the 12" line and want to make sure there is enough wire to get it out from behind the intake.

The wire won't reach very far. that's why most kits come with an 18" hose: it allows you to screw the hose into th e block and bend it around to where the sensor wire is without making the bend too tight (radius wise).

There’s a couple of ways to approach this. I’m considering the divided hose setup, so I can mount the sensor close to the wiring, but then locate a gauge somewhere more conspicuous. Or not, lol…

Ps. The Aeroquip hose is much more flexible, and less expensive ($14), than the Earls hose ($29) that comes with the “kit”.

This is the first try with an Earl’s hose with a Chevy adapter. I wanted a gauge, but two hoses and three gauge fittings later, none would screw into the Earls hose. The other fittings seems to work fine, just not the gauge port fittings.

I got a refund on the hose, so someone gets a deal. Just don’t plan on screwing in a gauge port!
