So the TAC module on my C5 was damaged in the wreck. The module itself seems to work fine, however the housing has been pretty badly damaged to the point that I'm worried about it being exposed to the elements.
I'm finding a ton of TAC modules online that look identical to the one in the C5, but the part numbers are different. Has anyone ever tried these in a C5 and know if they'll work? I'd rather spend 90 than pay the corvette tax.
One of the mounting tabs is gone, the case is cracked in half and there is a significant chunk missing. I believe there is some weather protection, as the lid of the case is glued to the body, in what I can only assume is an attempt to seal it from the elements. I don't think it will see direct water spray or anything, but being outside the car in the wheel well, it's not exactly in a great environment.
If it's still working fine I'd be tempted to just scuff up the plastic and fiberglass it in and shoot some satin black paint on it. Done and waterproof. But I'm cheep sometimes...
It's not like anyone will see it once it's installed.
