I have an Diablo I3 tuner I went to install the canned 93 octane tune. After installing my car went into reduce engine power/service engine and other warnings and would not start. Loaded the backup tune and same thing. (no codes popped up when scanned with both tunes "installed") I disconnected the battery for a while then reconnected the car started and ran fine nothing on DIC. I tried this again by tuning the 93 octane tune. Same thing reduced engine power etc and would not start. So, I unplugged the battery again without restoring back up and after a while reconnected the battery. The car started. Is the 93 octane tune still on the ECM then? I contacted diablo and they stated On all 99-07 GM vehicles, whenever you are tuning, all aftermarket accessories must be removed from the harness. Usually, pulling the fuses for RADIO, RADIO AMP, SEO IGN, SEO B1, INFO will work. If not, the component will have to be physically disconnected. I pulled all radio, Bose speakers, head light, tail light, parking lights, hazards etc, HVAC system and accessories fuses. Still the same thing is happening. Any other ideas? Appreciate the help!
That's weird. I have used a Diablo on my 02 but used the 91 tune and never had any issues. Have you updated the I3? That is the first thing I would do is to get that updated before I do any more flashes. I never have removed any fuses but I don't have any aftermarket stuff on my car except LED lighting.
Some other info that I experienced, When I tried to update the I3 from a Mac, the I3 would barf and not update correctly. I then tried it on a Windows machine and it updated smoothly and quickly.
It sounds like you already did your due diligence, may be time to get on the customer service line. Was everything off and doors closed in addition to what you did? I know my 04 can be finicky if anything is squawking on the bus, but typically a reflash is all it takes to be on your way.
On early years corvettes, you must disconnect the battery after installing the tune or your car wont start. Been there, done that.
While installing the tune, your DIC message will be low power and chimes, that is normal.
Like mentioned above, always update the firmware on the Diablo before doing anything
Thanks for the response. Yah, I made sure that it was updated before I tried the tune. I use windows. I know its weird... the only aftermarket electronics I have are LED lights as well. Besides that mods are headers, exhaust, and vararam. A&A on the way and I have a remote tuner... This was kind of a test run to see if the I3 will work.
Thanks for the info. The Car is a 99. Everything was updated. I was getting concerned if the car was actually being flashed with the new tune. I have an A&A kit on the way and I have a remote tuner. This was a test run to see if the I3 would actually work.
