Speedometer pegged
I saw a fifteen yr old thread that didn’t resolve the problem. Happened after a dead battery and subsequent charge. Tried pulling and placing the battery cables. No startup sweep. Nothing. All other gauges working fine. Please tell me it’s a simple fix. Thx

Sounds like the cluster is bad. If all of the gauges sweep except for the speedometer it's probably an internal custer failure since the gauge should always sweep when the key is turned on. Changing cluster is not as bad as it seems.

As above you may need a new cluster if everything sweeps but the speedo. However, you mentioned a dead battery and a charge. I'd first get a new (new) battery and put that in. Our C5s are very wonky with electrical situations and a weak battery tends to bring out the worse. What does your DIC say for battery condition?
