Mirror Memory (doesn't always return to set position)
This is one of those little nuances that I'm finally getting around writing a post. When getting into the car and putting the key in, sometimes the seat and mirror move, sometimes I need to push the memory button. Not a big deal. The bigger deal is that whether it happens automatically or whether I hit the button, the seat goes to the correct position, but the mirror is probably 50/50 chance of going to the right spot. Sometimes I hit it a second time and it gets closer, but I usually have to manually adjust it, at which point I set it again, but it never sticks. Yes, I let it complete it's move before starting the car. Yes I have Easy Exit turned on because I'm 6'2 and I like the retraction of the steering wheel so I can swing my legs out easier.
Is there a way to remedy this or is this just one of those things I need to live with?
I had this happen to another GM car and it was caused by having the mirror set too close to the end of travel, when it was adjusted a little away from that point it worked fine.
Would this be related to the steering wheel sometimes does not automatically adjust out when started per memory? This is a 2002, my 2004 had the same intermittent problem.
I always wondered why my memory settings would sometimes work with the key insertion and at other times I had to push the memory button. Turns out if you lock your doors using the key fob, when you unlock it and insert the key, auto memory works. If however you just get in the car w/o unlocking with the key fob then auto memory will not work. I tested this theory and it proved true 10 times out of 10............and still does

That actually makes sense because the memory setting is tied TO the key fob. If you set them with fob 1 being the one that unlocked the car, they will work that way with fob 1. If fob 2 is used for different settings, it will work that way only for fob 2.

I had forgotten about that.
Another interesting thing is that the memory light on the door will blink when the car is unlocked with the fob. The fob1 or 2 led will light depending on which fob was used to unlock the car.
