Default Question on battery fitment. Please help

Whas up guys. I’m in need of a new battery and I found a Duracell Platinum AGM at Sams club for a great price. Question is I think the 98-2000 C5’s came with group 34/78 batteries. And 01-2004 C5’s came with group size 75. Please lemme know if this battery will fit without having to hack up the battery tray or hold down bolt please. My VETTE is an 2002. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx.

Autozone, Oreilly, and Napa all show a group 75 battery for a 2002 corvette.
Group 78 Battery
10.25 x 7.0625 x 7.3125
Group 75 Battery Dimensions (Inches) (L x W x H)
9.0625 x 7.0625 x 7.3125

So I would say stick with the 75. But it's only an inch and a quarter difference, look at the battery tray and see if you have the space.
I looked at Rock Auto but don't see the OEM battery tray part number or dimensions.

As Dad mentioned....stick with the Group 75. Even if it is small the hold down will lock it in place and it won't move.

Pro Tip.... when your battery is out, clean out the drain udder for the passenger side. It is the long on that needs to be snaked around. The only way easily get the udder out is with the battery out. The extra 10 minutes will be worth the effort.

The 34/78 battery will fit. It does weigh a little bit more being a larger battery.

I bought that battery for my '99. It is an AGM made by East Penn.

I had the same battery for about 9 years before I did something stupid and killed it. It worked great and even had a good RC which our C5's need for parasitic drain. I specifically looked for this battery again when it died since I had good luck with it.

I bought mine in June '20 at Sam's for $139, so they have gone up, but still a good battery for the price.

I am not certain of your original question of differences between the early and late battery sizes, but to check it out I would simply compare the size of the battery tray to the size of the battery to see if it fits.

Good luck.

The tray is larger than the original battery. I had to grind the rubber hold down a bit, but the 34 fit right in tray.

Just got the Sams sale paper, $20 off May 3-5 any battery. I use the Duracell AGM 78 size with no issue, 99 Vette.
